Hello for the ninth time. So far nine journeys and I'm loving it. I hope you like these as well. Not much to say here, just hope you enjoy. Onward to the story.


Pokemon Journey
Part IX: Thunder Badges and a foiled plan

As JJ and Lisa reach the outskirts of Vermilion City and the next gym they wander near Digletts Cave.

"Let's have a look in there JJ." Lisa said. She liked exploring caves.
"Sure." JJ moved Pidgy over to storage earlier that day. In it's place was Sandshrew, a pokemon that had a chance in the next gym.

He wanted a Diglett so it was a chance to acquire a new pokemon. But he couldn't help but think about what Bill had said. He never knew there were that many pokemon. JJ vowed to catch as many as he could.

"Diglett, Dig."
"What was that?" Lisa said looking around. Just then, a head poked out of the ground.
"A Diglett." JJ declared as he took out his Pokedex.
"Diglett, A ground pokemon. Lives about a foot underground. It eats tree roots and gets vital nutrients from the soil."
"It's mine." JJ then prepared a pokemon.
"Squirtle, I choose you!"
"Squirt, Squirtle." It said as it prepared for battle. Diglett then shot sand at Squirtle. Squirtle dodged the sand, and dished out a Water Gun. Diglett took a lot of damage.
"Poke ball, Go!" JJ called as he tossed the poke ball at the Diglett. It was sucked inside on contact. It shook once, twice, and a few more before Diglett gave up.
"All Right! Diglett is mine!" JJ declared as he picked up the poke ball.
"Now what?" Lisa asked.
"Back to the trail."
"O.K." Lisa replied hoping to get to Viridian before night fall.

"So, what are we doing again Jessie?" James asked
"It's simple. We are going to steal the Crystal Poke ball. It's chipped out of a REAL diamond." Jessie explained.
"It's on display in the museum. We are going to sneak in and steal it." Meowth added.
"Guess you can call us the 'Team of Steal' " James joked.
"Yeah. Now here's the plan." Meowth then began to line out his robbery plan.

JJ and Lisa made Viridian a lot sooner than expected. They had enough time to go directly to the gym. The pair stepped inside the stone walls. The outside had what looked like thunder bolts. The gym leader here was Lt. Surge. His electric pokemon were very powerful, but JJ brought along a Sandshrew. A ground pokemon which should do the trick. The inside of the building was dark, but JJ could see a man sitting on a chair that looked more like a throne. Two other people stood to his left and right.

"Hey look, more kids." One taunted.
"Well boy, what do you want?" The other said.
"I am here to earn a Thunder Badge." JJ shouted.
"Oh really?" The leader said.
"I'm Lt. Surge, and if you want to lose, baby, you came to the right place."
"I'm not a baby, ugly." JJ shot back.
"Oh come on." Surge laughed.
"I've been called worse than that. You need a better insult."
"I don't want talk, I want action." JJ wasn't the best in talking the talk, but he picked a few things up.
"All right. Prepare to lose in my arena." Surge then led them to a ring near the entrance.
"One pokemon a piece, baby." Surge challenged.
"One on one fine by me." JJ shot back.
"Then it's time for you to fail. Go Raichu." Surge called as the two foot tall rodent came out.
"A what?" JJ then took out his Pokedex.
"Raichu. An electric pokemon. This evolutionary successor to the Pikachu can generate 10,00 volts of electricity. This pokemon is very dangerous."
"All right then, I choose Sandshrew!" JJ called as he released Sandshrew. The smaller Sandshrew was ready to go.
"Raichu, Thunder Bolt." Surge called. Raichu shot it's bolts with no effect.
"Sandshrew, Dig Attack." Sandshrew then leapt into the air, curled into a ball, and dug under ground.
"Where'd it go?" Surge asked. He was quickly answered when Sandshrew shot him self from the ground into Raichu. Raichu was knocked back but managed to stay standing.
"Sandshrew, Slash attack." Sandshrew then took a swipe at Raichu. Raichu dodged the swipe but wasn't prepared for the second slash Sandshrew used. Raichu was knocked down.
"Sandshrew, Sand attack." As Raichu turned around Sandshrew blew dust in it's eyes.
"Come on Raichu! Give it your Body Slam!" Blinded by the sand Raichu used the attack, but nobody was home.
"Sandshrew, Another Dig." Again Sandshrew dug under the ground and shot itself at Raichu. Raichu was knocked on its back. It didn't get up.
"Unbelievable." Surge declared.
"All right kid, I admit it. Your no baby, your the real deal. You just earned yourself a Thunder Badge."
"ALL RIGHT!!!" JJ shouted as he accepted the small object.
"I GOT A THUNDER BADGE!!!"
"Kid, keep it coming, you can be a champ if you try."
"Good work JJ." Lisa said as she stood beside JJ.
"So that's your name. Well JJ, see at the league."

JJ was literally glowing as they walked in front of the museum. The two were going to a hotel to stay the night.

"Pardon me." JJ and Lisa turned around to see an Officer Jenny.
"What?" JJ asked.
"There's been roomers of thieves in the area. Have you heard anything?"
"Afraid not." JJ replied. Just then the alarm in the museum rang.
"But something tells that's a clue." Lisa said as the three ran to the front of the museum.
"Look there." Jenny said pointing to the sky.

"It's those brats." Meowth said looking down.
"Well what are they going to do? We're up here and there down there." James said.
"Come on. The boss will reward us when we bring him this." Jessie said holding the diamond in her hand.

"Stop them." At ground level the museum guard ran out.
"They stole the crystal Poke ball. It's priceless."
"I've got it." JJ said. Lisa remembered JJ sidelined Pidgy. But so did JJ.
"Butterfree, Go!" JJ said as he tossed the normal Poke ball. Butterfree came out, ready for action.
"Butterfree, get the crystal." JJ commanded.
"Free!" It said as it flew up turned and snatched the crystal from Jessie.
"Hey! We stole that fair and square!" James said as the crystal was returned to the museum.
"Now we have to steal it again." Jessie said.
"I sense a Motto coming on." Meowth said.
"Prepare for trouble,"
"Better make it double."
"To protect the world from devastation,"
"To unite all peoples within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love,"
To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie."
"James."
"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light."
"Surrender now or prepare to fight."
"Meowth that's right."

What the Rockets hadn't noticed was that JJ's first pokemon, Charmander, was called out.

"Butterfree, Tackle them into a flag pole." Butterfree flew back up, dove into the balloon, and knocked it into a flagpole's point. The balloon slowly lost air and floated to the ground.

"Now Charmander, Flame Thrower!" In a barrage of flames Team Rocket was instantly burned.
"May I make a suggestion." Meowth piped up.
"What?" James asked.
"RUN FOR YOUR POKEMON STEALING LIVES!!!!" He shouted as the Rockets turned tail and ran faster than a Dotrio.
"Looks like Team Rocket is blasting off again!" They said as the chard Rockets ran off.
"They got away." JJ complained.
"Well the crystal's back and no ones hurt, so that makes it win for us." Jenny said.
"Yeah, I guess."

Well a big day today. JJ got his third badge, new pokemon, and defeated Team Rocket again. Smooth sailing so far. But who will have the last laugh?
