Lifestyles of the Rich and Fearsome
Hello, I'm Gary Donald, and this is Lifestyles of the Rich and Fearsome. We'll interview the 8 gym leaders and (hopefully) try to find out their Pokémon's weaknesses!
Brock,
owner of Pewter Gym GD: What first inspired you to become a gym leader? Brock: Well, I originally meant for the gym to be a Pokéchow factory, but when I finally constructed the building, the Pokémon League announced that they were selecting new gyms to become Official Gyms. I decided to make the Pokéchow factory a gym so I could become world famous. GD: Why did you choose to make it a "rock" gym? Brock: Most people think I made it a rock gym because the name of the city is Pewter City, but that's not true. [The city] was originally called "Crap Villiage", mainly because we processed fertilizer. We cleaned up the villiage greatly before the Pokémon Inspectors came. About a day before they were scheduled to come, I realized I had been so busy helping to clean up the villiage I forgot to work on the gym. We had no time for fancy decorations, so we collected a bunch of rocks from the foot of Mt. Moon and filled the gym with it. The Inspectors loved the idea of Pokémon fighting on rocky surfaces, so they made [the gym] an official Pokémon League gym. The Gym brought many people to the villiage and brought much money to the shops. We changed the name to "Pewter City" after the Gym that changed our lives. GD: Who is your least favorite Pokémon? Brock: It's Bulbasaur. So many trainers from Pallet town come here with Bulbasaur, and beat the living s*** out of my Pokémon. Why are you asking this? GD: Uhh..... no reason. What do you have to offer to trainers that other gyms can't? Brock: The Boulder Badge increases the Power of the trainer's Pokémon. It also authorizes the trainer to use the Flash ability once they get HM 5. GD: Any plans for the future? Brock:Yes, we're planning on making a Pewter Gym website. We're also currently working on a Pewter Gym gift shop, featuring rocks autographed by myself, Geodude and Onix figurines, etc. |
Lt.
Surge, owner of Vermilion Gym Gd: I hear that there's an amazing story about why you chose electric Pokémon as your favorite. Lt Surge: There is. This is how it goes: During the war, I got separated from my platoon, and was found by the enemy. They all had their guns trained on my heart. I had lost all hope when out of the darkness came an electric Pokémon. He zapped the enemy with his amazing Thundershock. Then, using it's magical powers, it transported me to the saftey of a tavern, where a man in an apron said something I'll never forget, "Sir, I think you've had enough," GD: Uh.. great story. Many people wonder about your extensive security system in the gym. Lt. Surge: There's a good reason for that. You see, when I first started this gym, I got a FLOOD of visitors. Most of them were downright morons who couldn't train worth CRAP! Many of the smarter trainers had to wait in line behind the idiots. So I figured,"Why not filter out the morons?". So designed a security system that only a competent person could get past. It also filtered out those trainers who abosolutley have no attention spans. I used to have trainers who would quit mid-battle just 'cause they got bored! GD: What is your least favorite Pokémon? Lt Surge: I'm so glad you asked! Ivysaur is the Pokémon I hate! About 80% of trainers from Pallet town choose Bulbasaur. 70% of all Bulbasaurs from Pallet evolve into Ivysaur by the time they reach Vermilion. Electric is weak against Grass, and Ivysaur turns out to be one of the toughest grass Pokémon that I have ever fought. I rarely see Venusaurs, so they're not a problem. I have a sign in front of my house that looks like this:
I wish I was allowed to put a sign like that in front of my gym. GD: Any last words? Lt. Surge: Are you gonna try to kill me or something?! GD: No, I meant, Are there any last things you want to say before we close? Lt. Surge: Oh. I just wanna say to all the ladies out there that my Email address is [email protected], and my AOL handle is thekingofelectricity67. |
